System Updates - April 2022

We’ve been hard at work this month adding even more features to YourArchive to enhance user experience. Read on to find out what’s new…

That’s Me!

Earlier this month we launched the ‘That’s Me!’ functionality. If you see a picture of yourself in a photo you can simply click on your face in the image and tick the ‘This is me’ pop up. Having done this the system will populate your own personalised ‘That’s Me!’ gallery on your organisation’s homepage. The ‘That’s Me!’ gallery will automatically pick up any other pictures of you that have been published from the archive so you can view all your school/university memories in one convenient place!

This is also a picture of me!

Did you or your users regularly change your haircut, stop wearing glasses, or often wear a hat? On rare occasion, facial recognition in the archive might not recognise you or your users in another photo. Should this happen, you can now click on yourself in the image in question, select ‘This is also a picture of me’ and (once approved) that image, and any others recognised as the same, will automatically be added to your personal ‘That’s me!’ gallery as well.

I know who this is!

The organisations we work with have done a fantastic job of adding names to the images published in the archive where they are known, but there are still many people in images who aren’t identified. Now, if users spot someone they recognise who hasn’t been named they can click on the face, select ‘I know who this is!’ and put in their name. This is a fantastic way of helping to build a truly comprehensive archive at your organisation, as well as engaging your community. Names also help to populate the people search function so please encourage your community to provide as many names as they can!

Search

Search is here! Now it is possible to search organisational archives for yourself, friends, teachers, staff or keywords. The search function is split into two elements:

  1. People Search, users can search by name for friends, teachers or staff, to see the published pictures of them from the archive, just like the personal ‘That’s me!’ galleries. Or just browse through the list of named people to see if any names jog their memory.

  2. Document Search, document search allows you and your users to effortlessly find any text in documents published in the archive. Look for names, that of friends or family or even the name of a production or event. If one of your community members finds something that relates to them, they can click ‘add to my personal gallery’ for the content to be added to the ‘That’s me!’ gallery to look at whenever they please without needing to search for it again.

Please note: the above features are only available to organisations at present.

Slideshows

Often you might like to view archive galleries at a more leisurely pace, and without clicking through the individual images, documents and videos - This is why we’ve added slideshows! In gallery home screens you will now see a ‘slideshow’ option has been added above the table of contents. Just click the button, specify how many seconds you would like to see each image for and you can sit back and relax as the gallery content cycles through.

If you have any questions about any of the above features, or would like to see the YourArchive platform in action, please email us. We’re always happy to run through the platform with you and answer any questions you may have.
